Writing about Swedish Wine was indeed a spontaneous decision on my part. I solemnly hope that this was a wise decision that I had made.
The Best Swedish Wine Articles on WineEver Wondered How Wine Is Made - How To Make Wine
By Marius Bezuidenhout
So youd like to know how to make wine? Well you can get the basics of wine making on the internet, but to learn the art of wine making you need to get some hands on experience. As a novice you can have great fun with a wine making kit that will give you step by step instructions for making your very own wine!
This is a great introduction to winemaking, since wine making kits make the wine making process less labour intensive, and you will not need expensive wine making equipment like de-stemmers, crushers and presses, since you will not be using fresh berries. You get to make your own wine quicker and cheaper, but still get the satisfaction of learning first hand about wine making.
Many of the wine making kits on the market are all inclusive, with pre-measured additives and a wine making recipe to follow step by step, while allowing for personalizing options which will affect the character of the wine you will produce. Naturally this is half the fun, since you want to create a personalised and unique wine.
Now you can turn your suburban home into a personal wine estate producing the finest reds from grapes sourced anywhere from Bordeaux to the Napa Valley. Imagine presenting your own personal wine as a gift to friends and family, complete with your own personally designed label.
Winemaking is an age old art which you can master without having to own an expensive estate or large cellar of your own!

Cream Sherry
Terroir, the French word for land, is the term used to describe the actual areathe physical and chemical conditions of the plot of earthwhere grapes are grown. Climate, soil content, and geographical elements such as the slope of the land, altitude, etc. all create a very specific natural environment in which the vine will grow. Expert tasters will say they taste the terroir in the winethis typically means the mineral content of the wine, soil composition, and other micronutrients have been absorbed by the vine and can be detected in the flavor of the wine. Terroir is more easily detected in low-yield or old vine grapes. High yield vineyards tend to add mineral fertilizers to the soil and the unique, natural expression of the soil is lost. Words like stoney or minerally are used to describe the flavors that the soil lends to the wine. Even the funkiness of a wines nose or flavor can be attributed to yeast or other microorganisms in the earth that are absorbed into the vine and find their way onto the grape skins.
